After discovering the exciting world of M&A through elective business classes I took during my undergraduate engineering studies at Imperial College London, and further enhancing my knowledge and understanding of the industry while at HEC, I started my investment banking career in 2015. The role’s inherent blend of market knowledge, technical capabilities, and soft skills appealed to me, and I joined Houlihan Lokey’s London office, deliberately targeting boutiques as I felt the lean deal teams would provide me with excellent client exposure and responsibilities from the start from the start.

All these years later I enjoy it as much, if not more, than on my very first day. Each transaction comes with its own set of complexities and nuances, and therefore skills required, resulting in a highly demanding, highly critical, constantly evolving role. As M&A advisors, we need to be able to combine analytical capabilities, rigour, and thoughtfulness with emotional intelligence and creativity, in order to maximise value for our clients. However, after 9+ years at Houlihan Lokey, I decided I wanted join a firm with which I had greater cultural proximity, provided more opportunities to work with entrepreneurs, while also allowing me to continue to enhance my sector focus within the tech space, specifically information services and software businesses.

Joining Cambon was therefore an obvious choice, especially with the additional scope to help expand the London office and international presence, and flexibility to focus on and grow specific verticals. I was highly impressed by Cambon’s ability to win market share in French mandates for digital and growth businesses, thanks to its bespoke and creative approach to deals, with an unwavering commitment to deliver exceptional value for its clients.

It was however the cultural fit that sealed the deal for me: Cambon’s core values – conviction, overachievement, and enjoyment – complement its entrepreneurial spirit yet meritocratic culture perfectly, while remaining humble and ensuring we do not take ourselves too seriously, whether internally or externally. I know this has been a key reason for Cambon’s success and I am beyond excited to have joined the Cambon adventure.
